So what does a day at work look like for a ticket broker? Remember, you’re working for yourself so you’ll need to be disciplined.

If you’re on the west coast, your day will start a little earlier, as tickets go on sale as early as 7am PST (that’s 10am on the east coast) so be sure to set aside plenty of time each morning to work on your business.

See What Tickets are On Sale with Box Office Fox

You’ll start by checking the Box Office Fox On Sale List to get a list of events going on sale the next day. This is where you’ll also get presale passwords and insights for what to buy.

Create Your Shortlist and Research Events

Next, you’ll create a shortlist of events by starring them and adding them to your Favorites List.

The On Sale List is a great place to start and narrow down events you should be buying, but you’ll still have to do your own research. Once you have your shortlist you can go through the Event Research checklist to figure out the best tickets to buy.

We’ll give you a detailed Event Research Checklist to follow later in the course, so keep reading.

Then sort your list by On Sale Time in Box Office Fox to create your buy schedule for the following morning.

Buy Tickets

Wakey wakey! Tickets are going on sale. It’s time to pull the trigger and invest. You’ve done the research, you know what tickets you’re after, now it’s time to buy.

Research Prices and List Your Tickets

Depending on the demand for the event, you may or may not get tickets. If you do, you’ll want to list them for sale immediately. You’ll research prices to figure out what price to price your tickets at.

Manage Your Listings

Then, if you have other listings for sale, you’ll monitor how prices are doing for those. Are you in line with the market? You may need to adjust your price. Always keep an eye on how the market is doing for your event.

Next it’s time to look after your tickets that have sold! This means transferring tickets to the buyer, and managing your listing.

Keep Great Records

Next, you should be keeping great records. Take some time to track your sales, your investments, net/gross, and what stage your tickets are at (Sold, Waiting on Payment, Need to List etc.)

Network, Read the News, Discover New Music

Then take some time to network with other brokers in the Slack Chat and talk shop. Stay up to date with ticket, sports and music news in Feedly.

Then it’s back to researching more events to buy for the next day.

Take time throughout the day to watch the sports highlights if you’re a sports fan, and always have music on in the background while you work so you can discover new artists.

That’s pretty much it! Being a ticket broker makes for a pretty great day, and as you can see, all of your work can be done from your laptop so you can work remotely. You can also work as little or as much as you want.
