Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground with Vader and Hate.[2]
Behemoth have been referred to as "a leading light in the Polish metal scene." The band's releases have received acclaim from major publications.[3] In 2016, the staff of Loudwire named them the 50th-best metal band of all time.[4]
